Rebirth in the Atlantic Forest: The territory and the Tupi-Guarani culture flourish together.

The name of the village, Renascer (Rebirth), reflects its mission and history. Composed of families from the Tupi Guarani and Guarani Mbya ethnic groups, the community occupies a territory of 2,500 hectares in Ubatuba that, until the late 1990s, was a mining area. Today, this land is being recovered, and the indigenous people are the guardians of a process of environmental and cultural healing. The collective, with its 90 people, resists and strengthens itself through actions that reinforce the traditional way of life and protect the forest that is returning.

The association's actions are an ode to life and biodiversity. The community carries out the recovery of the forest and biodiversity through the planting of native seedlings, cultivated by themselves. This manual work and connection with the land is done collectively, uniting the two ethnic groups in a common effort. At the same time, the village strengthens its culture and identity with songs, dances, and the preservation of its mother tongue. Community-based tourism (CBT) complements this cycle, serving as a tool for economic sustainability and allowing visitors to witness the power of indigenous resistance.
The support received from FUNBEA has been fundamental to the continuity of these actions. The funding allows the collective to maintain and expand the recovery of the forest, ensuring the planting of more native seedlings and the strengthening of their traditional way of life. By investing in the Renascer village, FUNBEA supports a model of resistance that uses ancestral knowledge not only to survive, but to restore an entire ecosystem and, with it, the hope for a more just future.
