Comuá for the Climate

Supporting local solutions to catalyze new futures.

Those working on the front lines of the fight against climate change know what it takes to generate transformations in their territory. Communities, groups, and civil society organizations have solutions, often informed by ancestral knowledge, to build resilience and adapt to extreme weather events.

Social and environmental justice philanthropy can contribute to this fight by supporting and financing the climate solutions of these groups and territories.

This platform is an invitation for actors in the field of climate finance to learn about the strength of local solutions and the mechanisms that already exist to support them, and to join us in catalyzing more just and resilient futures.

local climate solutions

Groups and communities that transform reality.

Communities and groups most affected by climate change, even if they contribute less to its worsening, already have the answers to face this reality. Local Climate Solutions are effective actions, often based on ancestral knowledge, inspired by nature, and with high transformative potential. They start from the reality of the territory and ensure greater adaptation and resilience.

network impact

Supporting local solutions to catalyze new futures.

From 2008 to 2025, the organizations of the Comuá Network supported thousands of local climate solutions, created and implemented by traditional communities, indigenous people, quilombola communities, family farmers, Black people, LGBTQIAPN+ people, and women.

Together, they donated R$ 450 million between 2023 and 2024 to support these groups in forest areas, rural areas, and on the outskirts of urban areas, impacting the lives of nearly half a million people. These solutions are distributed across various regions of the country, demonstrating the reach of the support.

They are also present in all Brazilian biomes, often in areas under high climate risk, such as MATOPIBA, the coastal strip, and the Legal Amazon.
