about the mechanism
This is more than just proving that Indigenous peoples and traditional communities play a fundamental role in the planet's climate balance. Therefore, we need to strengthen their voices and their struggles so that they can defend their rights and multiply the positive effects of their actions: reducing invasions in demarcated or protected areas, ensuring their continued presence, restoring biodiversity, and fostering community mobilization, among others. The publication provides concrete examples of the results of this support. It also recounts the trajectory of the Brazil Fund in supporting these peoples and communities, up to the creation of Raízes, a project that the Itaúsa Institute is also helping us to build.
