about the mechanism
Following the principles of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), the project promotes the integration of meliponiculture (stingless beekeeping) into the context of family farming, as a strategy to strengthen rural communities and preserve local ecosystems. Through training, specialized technical support, and knowledge production, it supports the rational breeding of the native bee Melipona mondury, the Yellow Uruçu, contributing to the protection of the species and biodiversity, as well as creating conditions for generating supplementary income for farming families, based on the value chain of honey and other bee by-products.

Tabôa Community Strengthening
Its mission is to strengthen communities through knowledge sharing, access to financial resources, and encouragement of cooperation, so that they can realize their potential, moving towards sustainability and socio-environmental justice. To this end, it fosters community-based initiatives and socio-economic enterprises, valuing local cultures, diversity, and vocations. Founded in 2014, it began its activities in 2015 in the Serra Grande district, Uruçuca/BA, and in communities surrounding the Serra do Conduru State Park (PESC). From 2017 onwards, with actions to strengthen family farming, it expanded its reach to more territories in southern Bahia, also including other regions and states, such as Pará, where it has been working to strengthen family farmers since 2024.
